Hey Gilbert Ladies, Got Weights?
September 23, 2010
Women these days are too afraid to use weights during their workouts because they buy into the myth that somehow when they’re done using weights, they will in some way, shape, or form resemble the incredible hulk. Seriously, you can’t get those kind of results overnight. A woman’s body isn’t made up the same way as a man’s, for obvious reasons. Women don’t have the same genetics or testosterone as men have to even come close to seeing ‘hulk’ like results. The women who do have ’hulky’ muscles have to actually try really hard to get that look.
You see, part of the natural process of aging results in women losing their muscle mass. This is concerning for aging women since they are likely to develop osteopenia or worse yet, osteoporosis which can prevnt women from doing basic daily activities as they age. But women who train with weights and strengthen not only their muscles but bones as well, can prevent damaging effects to their bodies. Are you a victim of, ‘what’s happened to my body with age?’ Combine being inactive with the aging process and it leads to fat cells accumulating around where lean muscles ‘used’ to be. Women are getting rid of fat and reving up their metabolism by participating in Gilbert Boot Camp and training with weights. This is a win situation if you are looking to obtain a healthy lifestyle.
It’s so valuable for anyone to exercise, especially to use weights in their workouts, at any age. It helps women to not only increase muscle strength, but muscle size as well. The muscle mass created by lifting weights is also known as ‘lean body mass.’ As you can see, it’s important for every women to add in some type of weight lifting into their workout program, just like you would find at one of Gilbert boot camps. If you exercise by only running or walking fast, that won’t increase your muscle mass, it will only burn calories. Your metabolism also diminishes with loss of muscle mass. If your body continues down this path over a period of time, then your body has no choice but to become over weight and out of shape.
At any age, it truly is never too late to start lifting weights to get those muscles firm. Don’t let foolish thinking (‘if I lift weights, I’ll look like the hulk’) slow your benefits down that you could get from weight training, it’s not just for men. See for yourself the many benefits that come when women add weights into their fitness routine.
